Distribution and OTA ranking

Sell on every channel, keep more of every booking.

OTAs (online travel agents) such as Booking.com and Expedia bring guests you'd never reach alone, but every booking costs 15% or more in commission. We manage your channels so you're seen in the right places, rank well and move more guests to the channels that cost least.

What we do

Your channels, managed.

Distribution and OTA optimisation are part of our revenue management service, so the rate we set reaches every channel, correctly, every day.

01

Channel management

You're on the channels worth being on, from Booking.com and Expedia to Airbnb, with rates, availability and restrictions right on each one. We pick the mix and keep it right through your channel manager.

  • The right mix of channels
  • Rates and availability loaded correctly
  • Room types and policies that match
02

OTA ranking

Where you appear in Booking.com and Expedia search decides how many guests see you. We work on what moves it: content, photos, review score, conversion and the paid programmes worth joining.

  • Content and photo scores
  • Review score and what drives it
  • Paid programmes, only if they pay back
03

Rate parity

When a wholesaler or another site shows your room for less than your own website, guests notice and book there. We check your rates across channels and close leaks at the source, then make your website the best place to book: the same price, plus something only direct guests get.

  • Parity checked across channels
  • Wholesale leaks traced and closed
  • Your website the best place to book
04

Channel costs and mix

You see what each channel really costs and earns, net of commission, so you can shift bookings to the ones that cost least, starting with your own website.

  • Commission cost by channel
  • Net revenue, not just bookings

Questions

What owners ask us.

How does Booking.com decide where we rank?
Booking.com doesn't publish its formula, but conversion, review score, content, price and availability all count, along with any paid programme you're in. We work on the parts you control and track where you appear against your comp set.
What is rate parity?
The same room, on the same terms, costing the same on every channel. When it slips, guests book wherever it's cheapest, which is rarely your own website. Parity is the starting point: your own website should be the best place to book, with the same price plus something extra, such as breakfast or a late check-out.
How much commission do Booking.com and Expedia charge?
Booking.com and Expedia usually charge 15% or more of the room revenue on every booking, so a $200 night is worth $170 or less to you. The rate depends on your contract and any paid programmes you join, which is why we track commission cost by channel every month.
Can you cut our commission costs?
We can't change the rate an OTA charges, but we can change how many bookings come through it. Every booking that moves to your own website keeps that commission with you.
Should we be on Airbnb?
It depends on your property and your guests: it suits some, and only adds cost for others. We'll look at it in your revenue review.
Do we need a new channel manager?
Usually not. We work in the channel manager you already have; if it's holding you back, we'll show you why and what we'd suggest instead.

  1. You pick a time for a call as soon as you send this.
  2. After the call, you send 12 months of figures (we'll show you how).
